Aviation Artist Statement

I try to extend my feeling of excitement in my exploration of flight. I am fascinated by the adventure and technology of early flight to open up the country. Memorable flights over prairies, forest and northern lakes still continue to resonate.

I hope to share this excitement of early airlines, bushplanes, and speed record aircraft. Design and colour are the cornerstones of my aviation art.

I had one memorable flight over Algonquin Park in a friend's floatplane during a Summer Sketch Camp in 1966. Since then, my aviation interests have focused on floatplanes and flying boats and the fantasy of flight. Design and colour are the cornerstones of my aviation art. I aim for graphic and compositional expressions of flight rather than realistic scenes.
